Daniel Press is a Professor of Environmental Studies at the University of California, Santa Cruz. An environmental policy analyst and scholar, he is the author of three books, the latest of which is American Environmental Policy: the Failures of Compliance, Mitigation and Abatement, Edward Elgar, Inc., 2015. In 2001, he was appointed to the Central Coast Regional Water Quality Control Board by Governor Gray Davis and reappointed in 2004 by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger. In 2012, he was appointed Executive Director of the UC Santa Cruz Center for Agroecology and Sustainable Food Systems (CASFS).
Daniel received his BS in fermentation science from the University of California, Davis in 1984 and his PhD in political science from the Claremont Graduate University in 1992. He has worked in the California and French wine industries.
Sustainable Food Program Manager AT Stanford University
Dara Silverstein is Stanford Residential & Dining Enterprises’ Sustainable Food Program Manager. She is also a Lecturer in both Earth Systems and the d.school at Stanford. Prior to joining Stanford, she managed Harvard’s Food Literacy Project and worked at Harvard’s Office for Sustainability. Dara has her Masters in Urban and Environmental Policy and Planning from Tufts University and a BA in Anthropology from Harvard University.
